Mar 30, 2007 Is the Mac right for me? By Lee Koo (ADMIN) CNET staff/forum admin March 22, 2007 5:08 AM PDT. Question: I've got very interested in photography to the extent that I.
The Mac famously doesn't come with a mouse or trackpad that has a distinct right mouse button, but that doesn't mean you can't right-click on the Mac. Whether you use the built-in trackpad on your Mac laptop, a Magic Trackpad, a Magic Mouse, or a third-party mouse that has a distinct right button, here's how to enable right-click menus on your Mac.
How to right click on any Mac
Regardless of how your Mac is set up, holding down the control key on the keyboard and pressing your primary mouse or trackpad button will open a shortcut or contextual menu, providing the same functionality that most Windows switchers are accustomed to seeing from a right click.
If you have a third-party mouse that has a right physical button, macOS should recognize the button and map it accordingly after you plug in the mouse. If you like having a different button as your right-click, you can customize which button is primary — left or right — in the Mouse system preference pane.
You may also want to check your third-party mouse maker's website for Mac drivers. Some of the better ones, like Logitech, offer very sophisticated tools for programming not only buttons, but other great functionality like optic tracking speed and acceleration, scroll wheel motion, chording, and more.
How to turn right click on for a Magic Trackpad or MacBook trackpad
Launch System Preferences from the Dock or by clicking the button in the top left corner and clicking System Preferences.
Click on the Trackpad icon.
Click the Point and Click tab.
Click the checkbox next to Secondary click.
Once it's activated, you'll be able to right click by tapping the trackpad with two fingers simultaneously. You can change the preference to click in the bottom left or right corners, if you prefer.
How to turn right click on for a Magic Mouse
Launch System Preferences from the Dock or by clicking the button in the top left corner and clicking System Preferences.
Click on Mouse.
Click the checkbox next to Secondary click, and choose either 'click on the right side' or 'click on the left side', depending on your preference.

Power adapters for Mac notebooks are available in 29W, 30W, 45W, 60W, 61W, 85W, and 87W varieties. You should use the appropriate wattage power adapter for your Mac notebook. You can use a compatible higher wattage adapter without issue, but it won't make your computer charge faster or operate differently. Lower wattage adapters don't provide enough power.
Mac notebooks that charge via USB-C come with an Apple USB-C Power Adapter with detachable AC plug (or 'duckhead'), and a USB-C Charge Cable.
Mac notebooks that charge via MagSafe come with an AC adapter with MagSafe connector and detachable duckhead, and an AC cable.
The images below show the style of adapter that comes with each MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air. If you're not sure which model Mac you have, use these articles:

Make sure you're using the correct USB-C charge cable
You can verify that you're using the correct version of the Apple USB-C Charge Cable with your Mac notebook and its USB-C AC Adapter.
The cable's serial number is printed on its external housing, next to the words 'Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China.'
If the first three characters of the serial number are C4M or FL4, the cable is for use with the Apple 29W or 30W USB-C Power Adapter.
If the first three characters of the serial number are DLC or CTC, the cable is for use with the Apple 61W or 87W USB-C Power Adapter.
If the cable says 'Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China' but has no serial number, you might be eligible for a replacement USB-C charge cable.

You can get extra or replacement adapters with AC cord and plug at the Apple Online Store, an Apple Reseller, or an Apple Store.
A replacement adapter might not be the same size, color, shape, or wattage as the original adapter that came with your computer. But it should power and charge your Mac like the adapter that originally came with your computer.
